1. “Japan vs. Godzilla: The History of the Fierce Battle”

Godzilla has been the subject of countless films to date. The “Japan vs. Godzilla – A History of Their Fierce Battles” corner features a map of the places where Godzilla has appeared and the Godzilla films in which they appeared. This valuable exhibit brings together the results of many years of research by the NIGOD, allowing visitors to see at a glance how much Godzilla has threatened various parts of Japan.

② “Toho Special Effects Technology Site”

This corner was created with the full cooperation of Toho Eizo Bijutsu Co., Ltd., which has been responsible for the special effects art that is essential to any Godzilla film. A huge diorama was created specifically for this museum using materials actually used in the filming of “Godzilla x Mothra x Mechagodzilla: Tokyo SOS,” released in 2003. Please take your time to look at the intricately crafted diorama, which demonstrates the high quality of the special effects art.

3. “Godzilla Intercept Operation”

This is an exhibition corner about the life-size Godzilla that is currently inactive on Awaji Island. In addition to an elaborate 1/20 scale model that allows you to closely observe Godzilla while he is inactive, there is also a wall exhibit that provides a detailed explanation of the operations that led to his inactivity, broken down into phases. You can see details that are difficult to notice in the real thing, and if you see the life-size Godzilla after seeing this scale model, you can get a better sense of its size.

④ “The World of Toho Special Art”

It’s not just three-dimensional sculptures. There is also an exhibition corner that collects production materials for various props, such as famous mecha that appeared in the series and weapons used by the human side in “Godzilla.” How were the props that are essential to film production conceived and actually made? For those who have long loved special effects films, this corner, where you can learn about the production process in detail, is a must-see.

⑤Diorama exhibition corner

The Gigantic Series is a hugely popular figure series among Godzilla fans. With the cooperation of X-Plus Co., Ltd., we’ve recreated four famous scenes from the Godzilla series in dioramas using these figures. The figures themselves are impressive, but when you add in the surrounding dioramas, it’s as if the famous scenes are being recreated right before your eyes. You can rotate the figure 360 degrees to enjoy the view, so be sure to take your time and take a good look.

⑥ “All Toho Monsters Attack”

This is a super-eye-catching corner made possible through the cooperation of BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd. and X-Plus Co., Ltd., where approximately 100 types of Toho monsters are gathered together in one place. The sight of all the Toho monsters that have appeared in so many films lined up in a row is simply spectacular. Try to find the monster that you have a special attachment to in this corner filled with the history of Toho monsters.

⑦ “Mothra Special Exhibition”

For a limited time only, until Sunday, September 13, 2026, the museum is also hosting a new special exhibition, the “Mothra Special Exhibition,” focusing on the ever-popular monster “Mothra.” With the cooperation of Toho Visual Arts, the exhibition features various filming props that appeared in the “Heisei Mothra Series,” as well as Mothra’s egg and a giant 4-meter panel, allowing visitors to experience the heroic figure of “Mothra” as she fights to protect people and the Earth as a guardian deity. Be sure to enjoy this limited-time special exhibition as well.

The Godzilla Museum is packed with so many things to see that it’s hard to stop talking about them, including an exhibit of the Godzilla suit actually used in the filming of the movie, and a special effects studio where you can film yourself facing Godzilla! The weather forecast for this three-day weekend is warm, so if you’re heading out, be sure to head to Nijigen no Mori on Awaji Island to fully immerse yourself in the charm of Godzilla and special effects movies! We look forward to seeing you there!
